FAQs

What Should I Bring to Rock Boot Camp®?

Friday: Musicians do not need to bring their instrument, amps or food.

Saturday: Guitarists and Bassists need to bring an electric guitar or bass tuned to standard tuning (A 440), a tuner, a working cable (10’ or more in length), a small practice amp (10-25 watts) and a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration. Drummers should bring a good set of sticks, a practice pad (optional) and a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration.  Drum sets will be provided. Sunday: Same as above, although musicians should plan on eating before attending Rock Boot Camp®.

What about beginners?

We welcome all levels of players; in order to enhance the Rock Boot Camp® experience for all participants, we do strongly suggest Recruits have played their instrument for at least 3-6 months.  Suggested tests of basic abilities would be:

Guitarists – the ability to play bar chords with roots on the 6th and 5th strings and the ability to play a pentatonic blues scale in multiple keys

Bass Players – the ability to play a major and minor scale in several keys

Drummers – the ability to keep time in 4/4 time at slow, medium and fast tempos and to do basic fills without losing the beat.

How old do you have to be to attend?

Minimum age requirement is 13 at this time.  There is no maximum age limit.  Attendees under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the electronic Rock Boot Camp® Release form (done electronically when you register for the camp).

How are bands grouped?

Each musician is individually evaluated by our Guest Artists at the start of each Rock Boot CampSM and bands are grouped by experience and skill level and then by style of music.

How much does the camp cost?

Tuition is $299 per attendee.  Certain discounts are available for attendees referred by a music instructor or other preferred partner.

Is lunch or dinner included?

No.  Generally, Recruits provide their own lunch, snacks, and beverages.  In most locations, restaurants and/or fast food establishments are located within walking or short driving distance from the Boot Camp facility.

What is your Student to Staff ratio?

Rock Boot Camp® provides a safe, enjoyable experience for all attendees.  Our student to staff ratio is a maximum of 20-to-1, meaning classes remain small enough for individualized attention (staff includes teachers, counselors, and administrative personnel).

How Do I get a Rock Boot Camp® T-Shirt?

You may pre-purchase at www.rockbootcamps.com if you have not already done so.  Please note that additional Rock Boot Camp® shirts and merchandise will be available for sale during the Camp.  Sizes and colors may be limited.
